The topic of the 'best' method for learning to read and write in primary school is currently being discussed again and increasingly focussed on. This is where the project WibaLeS – Professional Knowledge of Teachers, Instructional Quality and Students’ Learning Progress in Basic Reading and Writing Lessons comes in with the aim of investigating the links between professional knowledge, instructional quality and student performance. The project was conducted at the University of Cologne and funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG, reference number: HA 2399/3-1, KO 3947/9-1, PO 1598/2-1) for the period 2018-2023.

A continuation of the project is planned.
